Training Overview
Psychological First Aid (PFA)
An evidence-based approach to help people right after a crisis or traumatic event. It focuses on comfort, safety, calm, and connecting to resources—not therapy, but practical support to ease immediate stress and support recovery.
- Reduces initial distress
- Builds short- and long-term coping
- Flexible for individuals or groups
Spiritual Resilience
A science-based, non-religious half-day training to strengthen inner resources amid repeated exposure to trauma and moral injury. It explores meaning, purpose, hope, and connection using practical tools and research.
- Spirituality is recognized by SAMHSA, APA, and DoW as key to wellness
- Includes stress-reduction practices and recovery strategies
- Helps sustain long-term resilience
Stress First Aid (SFA)
A peer-support framework (developed for military/first responders) to spot early stress reactions in yourself or others and take simple steps to promote recovery, using a "stress continuum" for everyday use.
- Identifies stress signs before burnout worsens
- Teaches core actions for self-care and helping peers
- Flexible for teams or quick briefings
Trauma Informed Care
An approach that recognizes how widespread trauma is, shifts mindset from "What's wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?", and builds safer, more supportive interactions to avoid re-traumatization.
- Covers trauma signs and impacts
- Teaches core principles: safety, trust, empowerment
- Helps responders provide better crisis care and protect their own well-being
